A Scottish school's scheme, which uses fingerprint-reading technology to access school dinner accounts, could help in the battle against playground bullying.
Under the innovative new system, pupils at Viewlands Primary in Perth use the scanners to enter their pre-paid accounts to pay for their lunch - therefore getting rid of the need to carry cash.
With money one of its primary causes, it is hoped that overall bullying rates would drop as a result, Scottish News reports.
What's more, Perth and Kinross Council say that it is considering introducing the fingerprint scanners in more of its schools.
A spokesperson added: "The system is faster, removes the need for children to carry money at school, reduces the opportunity for bullying and, for children in receipt of free meals, helps remove any stigma."
However, one parent said that he was concerned that the new technology was "all a bit Big Brother".
A spokesperson for the Green Party agreed, saying that children's civil liberties were under threat if such a scheme was widely applied.
