Members of a Teesside martial arts club have won an array of medals at a national championship.
Redcar-based Northern Tang Soo Do karate club competed at the Combined Junior and Senior Championships in London.
The 34 competitors won five first place trophies, with the victors aged from seven to 44 years of age, together with eight second place finishes and ten third places.
Martin Silk, senior instructor of the club, told the Middlesbrough Evening Gazette: "I'm really pleased with everyone's hard work and attitude to training. The club as a whole doesn't put pressure on people to win. If there is no pressure on people, I think people can perform better."
Following the performances in the championships, many club members have qualified in the Great Britain squad for the World Tang Soo Do Association World Championships, which take place in Florida in July.
Mr Smith added that the excitement is building ahead of the championships and the recent tournament was "good practise for the team".
Tang Soo Do is a not-for-fighting Korean martial art which aims to equip practitioners with the techniques and the development of spirit for the use of the art form as self defence.
