ImageA school in Liverpool has been awarded its second Princess Diana anti-bullying award.

Tuebrook's Roscoe junior school has become one of the first organisations to win two of the awards, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The school was honoured for its solving squad scheme in which a team of 16 year ten and 11 pupils patrol the yard at break-times or spend their time staffing the school solving squad office. Organisers for the Diana Awards hailed the school's efforts as an example to follow.

During break-time patrols the trained squad, with official badges, look for pupils in distress and log incidents of bullying, as well as talking through issues and problems with the children involved.

Amanda Anders, headteacher of the school, told the newspaper: "It's definitely having an impact in reducing bullying, and boosting the self-esteem of those involved. Being a Solving Squad member is a sought-after role."

The Diana Awards were founded in 1999 and celebrates the courage, commitment and services of young people aged between 12 and 18.
