ImageFour ten-year-olds from Chester have earned their junior black belts in the martial art of jujitsu.

Reece Roughley, Scott Appleton, Ryan Parkinson and Nicole Aubury all passed together when examined at the World Jujitsu Federation headquarters in Fazakerley, Liverpool, reports the Chester Chronicle.

The four all attend the Shogun Professional School of Jujitsu in Chester and are trained by eighth dan Simon Rimington and fifth dan Norma Rimington.

Scott's mother Catherine spoke to the newspaper and told of how much preparation the friends had to put in before the test.

"The first test was two hours and the anatomy test was three hours so they had a lot to do. They have progressed together and gone from purple belt through brown-white, brown, and black in 12 months," added Ms Appleton.

In other news, a martial arts national training weekend was held in Donington where masters taught the arts of judo, karate, aikido, and jujitsu to students aged between five and 78, reports Spalding today.
