ImageSchoolchildren will be trialling anti-bullying initiative software which is designed to be both "educational" and "entertaining".

More than 200 children will visit the University of Hertfordshire's computer science team to sample the role-play software intended to tackle bullying in the playground, reports the St Albans and Harpenden Review.

A humanoid robot has been developed as a social comparison together with Kaspar, which is another child-like robot designed by the university team to help children with autism. Kaspar is being further developed to act autonomously.

The children, aged between eight and 12 years old, will interact with the robot while trialling the anti-bullying software.

Scott Watson, of the university's science team, told the newspaper: "We are looking forward to the children's feedback on the software as well as their opinions on the robots.

"We hope the event will be both educational as well as entertaining for the children."

In other news, during April schools in North Wales announced controversial methods of tackling bullying, according to the Daily Post.

Pupils could be fingerprinted as a method of paying for their school dinners to reduce the possibility of pupils being forced to hand over cash by bullies.
