A new anti-bullying drive has been launched by TV presenter and ChildLine founder Esther Rantzen.
The campaign in Daventry has come after four years of work and research by Northamptonshire charity Service Six, which has identified bullying as the number one concern among young people, reports the Daventy Express.
Service Six will provide the staff, resources and training needed to prevent and tackle bullying and will visit schools throughout the area.
Patricia Jones, chairman of the charity, told the newspaper that the new campaign will harness the "energy and enthusiasm" of young people, which she claims is effective in challenging bullying.
"So, for all the different approaches to bullying that we have tried, such as poster campaigns, marketing and workshops, the most effective measure has always been to engage young people, so that they can challenge bullying in their own environment," she concluded.
The Service Six charity was awarded a grant of over £46,000 by BBC Children in Need for 2007 to 2010 to pay for two part-time young person's support workers for outreach services in the areas of Corby and Kettering.
