A schoolgirl from Chorley has won a place in the Great Britain kickboxing squad for the World Championships in the Czech Republic.
Hannah McSweeney won a silver medal at the British Championships and was the only non-gold winner to be asked to train with the squad, reports the Chorley Guardian.
The person who beat Hannah to the gold medal then had to pull out of the squad so she was chosen to replace her and represent GB in the championships.
Dennis McSweeney, Hannah's father, told the newspaper that she was overjoyed to get the call telling her she would be involved.
"We are all proud of what she has achieved since she took up the sport three years ago," he added.
The Lancashire Freestyle Kickboxing Academy, where Hannah trains, now has five members dreaming of representing GB at the world championships.
It will cost around £3,000 for all the members to attend so the club is now asking local businesses to help support the youngster's dreams.
Other club members Gemma Wilcockson, Scott Whittle and Katie Alker all qualified for the championships after participating in the qualifying event.
