A school in Morpeth has received a county Anti-Bullying Award.
King Edward School has been praised by Northumberland County Council for its efforts to tackle the problem of bullying, reports the Morpeth Herald.
The school had to outline its behavioural policy to the council, proving that it implemented systems to deal with bullying incidents and has a support structure for affected pupils.
Simon Taylor, head teacher at the school, told the newspaper that the students were delighted to receive the award, which was a reflection of their hard work.
"It is such an important issue for every young person at the school and we are constantly updating our approach to deal with the problem and help students affected by it," he added.
In other news, a group of year six pupils from Grovelands School in Eastbourne have received the Diana award for anti-bullying after acting as the schools playground mediators, reports Eastbourne Today.
