A martial arts centre in Oldham is trying to encourage families to participate together in learning new skills.
The Tang So Do Family Martial Arts Centre teaches kung fu, self defence and attempts to teach participants non-violent resolutions, reports the Oldham Advertiser.
A number of other aspects, such as basic Korean language and behavioural improvements, are also taught to both adult and young members.
The students also keep a record of accomplishments they have achieved outside of the centre, with each accomplishment rewarded.
Nick James, chief instructor of the club, told the newspaper that they believe in "praise, encouragement and reinforcement".
"Students learn confidence, self-discipline and control. Our young students are treated with the same respect as adults and are taught to return that respect to others," he added.
The Sanshu UK martial arts club in Orpington has recently launched its Respect programme in the hope of giving youths an alternative to committing crimes and causing anti-social behaviour, thisislocallondon.co.uk reported.
