Pupils from a north-east school have been embracing the Brazilian martial art of Capoeira.
Children aged ten and 11 from Glebe School in Whitley Bay have been learning the art form with older pupils from the town's Marden Bridge Middle School.
The Newcastle Evening Chronicle has been working with Newcastle-based Group Senzala North East to train in Capoeira, which is a combination of martial arts and dance.
Clare Boreham, teacher and leader of enrichment and creativity at Glebe School, told the newspaper: "Individuals at both schools have gained confidence and made new friends and it has been delightful to see children who have a range of differing abilities succeeding in a subject equally and together."
The martial art of Capoiera was recently demonstrated during the Aston Pride Family Festival, reports the Birmingham Mail.
