A world karate champion is set to host a community forum event aiming to make the streets safer.
Molly Samuels is to teach self defence tips through a martial arts workshop at the Gendai-Ryu Karate Club as part of the Green Street event in Newham.
The Newham Recorder reports that the free family event aims to teach the local community about combating crime and anti-social behaviour.
Workshops on mediation and conflict resolution will also be hosted during the event at the Priory Park Centre.
Sharif Mahmood, Green Street community lead councillor, told the newspaper: " We all need to work together to make our area safer.
"This event is an ideal way for people of all ages to speak to the experts and learn in a friendly environment."
In other karate news, father and son Chris and Michael Booth from the Huddersfield Cobras Freestyle Karate Club both passed their black belts at the same grading event, the Huddersfield Examiner reports.
