Karate duo 'make club history' |

A karate club in Haverhill is celebrating after two of its members passed their first dan black belts.
Mark Ashwood, 25, and Les Atkins, 46, have become the first fighters from Haverhill Karate Club to pass the grading for 16 years.
The Haverhill Echo reports that the duo successfully completed the first dan black belt examinations in London in front the head of the Toyakwai Karate Association.
Steve Hart, sensei of the club, told the newspaper he was "very proud" of their "hard work".
"I actually was the last one to get one in the club and I got mine 16 years ago so it's a big milestone for us," he added.
In other karate news, 12-year-old Conor Gavin became the youngest black belt from the South East Freestyle Karate Association.
The Suffolk Free Press reports that he passed the grading after performing in front of senior black belts from the association.
