A Yorkshire karate club is celebrating after achieving a 100 per cent pass rate at a black belt grading.
Harrogate Karate Club saw all five of its participants receive their black belts at the Shukokai Karate Union's grading in Sheffield.
The Harrogate Advertiser reports that Peter Stubbs, George Gill and Stephen Smith received their first degree belt, with Alistair Whieldon and Lawrence Brooks achieving second degree black belts.
All of the participants have studied for almost six years at the club.
Ken Gee, head instructor at Harrogate Karate Club, told the newspaper: "For children to start karate at such a young age and then stay with it for almost their entire school years is testament to both the fascination of the art and their own incredibly focused attitude."
In other news, two pupils from Bromsgrove's Samurai Karate Academy, Jack Rose and Billy Banyard, both received their first dan black belts in karate during a grading in Torquay, the Bromsgrove Advertiser reported.
