A martial arts class in Hertfordshire has reported a marked increase in members over recent months.
Jamie Holliday, who runs Krav Maga classes at the Challenge Active gym in Spellbrook, says that the recent high-profile violent attacks and stabbings in London have created a "flurry of interest" in self defence, reports the Herts and Essex Observer.
Krav Maga is easy-to-learn and perfect for self defence, according to Mr Holliday, who adds that it is "ideal for children and adults of any age".
The martial art was developed by Israeli security forces and focuses on neutralising a potential attacker as quickly and as safely as possible.
"It's quite fast paced but it's less structured as real life just doesn't happen like that. It's really simple to learn even though we hope people never have to use it," said Mr Holliday.
John Browning from Matchborough recently qualified as an accredited Krav Maga instructor and is planning to teach the martial art as a method of self defence, the Redditch Advertiser reported.
