A team of schoolchildren in Yorkshire have completed an eight-week martial arts programme.
Youngsters from Martongate Primary School have been training in self defence at the Personal Power Martial Arts School in Bridlington.
Chris Reen, chief instructor of the club, told the Bridlington Free Press that he put together a special training programme for the children, which included aspects of self discipline and respect together with the martial arts.
"The idea is that these students can now become role models in the classroom and for the rest of the students to follow," said Mr Reen.
"I have been working with the education department who fully support what I'm doing and how I put it across."
Vale Judo Club in Oakham recently received an additional 60 members after it underwent a successful six month training partnership with local schools, the Rutland Times reported.
