A karate champion from Yorkshire is launching a new sports academy to get more disabled youngsters into participation in sport.
Steve Farleigh, who is also a qualified martial arts instructor, has established the centre in Keighley, which is set to be followed by an academy in Bradford.
The Keighley News reports that the initiative received £140,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to develop and open academies across Yorkshire over the next four years.
Mr Farleigh told the newspaper that parents , carers and youngsters are all invited to an open day to learn what sports, including karate, are on offer at the centre.
"The sports available will be determined by the young sports people and, with the exception of bungee jumping, most will be available as tasters," he added.
A team of youngsters from Lancaster recently competed in the International Youth Games in Germany.
The Lakeland Echo reports that the youths competed in a number of sports, including karate, and won medals in every event.
