An ancient martial art has been displayed in Enfield by a local club.
The Enfield Karate Shinboku Kai club celebrated the art of Sokol as part of the town's annual celebration of martial arts.
According to the Enfield Independent, Sokol was imported from the Czech Republic in the 19th century and aims to combine physical, moral and intellectual training all contained within Christian beliefs.
Sokol, which translates to falcon, combines movement and gymnastics in both the training and display forms of the art.
Tony Heywood, who runs the Shinboku club, discovered the ancient art of Sokol and has now been running training sessions for the last eight years.
A karate club in Spennymoor, the Chikara Dojo of Kyokishin Karate, recently held an annual training camp in which participants from across the UK embarked on a series of training sessions and grading examinations, the Spenny News reported.
