A world champion kickboxer is planning to start her own martial arts academy.
Sevda Arif, who recently won a gold medal in the ISKA Amateur World Championships in the Czech Republic, is preparing to launch her own training centre in South Woodford.
The Wanstead & Woodford Guardian reports that the 28-year old aims to specialise in teaching martial arts to women, but also plans to run lessons for both men and children.
Ms Arif, who has previously trained students in Loughton, travelled the world as part of her build up to the tournament, training in Thailand, Malaysia and the USA.
Speaking about her victory in the world championship, she told the newspaper: "The last two months of training have been very gruelling. However, it was all worth it in the end."
It was recently reported by the Evening Star that youth-on-youth crime figures in Ipswich had dropped through the duration of a martial arts training programme called Game On, which has been run throughout the school holidays.
