Teenager becomes world karate champion |

A teenager from Northamptonshire has become a world karate champion in a recent tournament.
Alex Henderson from Corby was victorious in the black belt section of the North American Sport Karate championships which took place in Orlando, Florida.
The Evening Telegraph reports that the 18-year old train at the Shudan Mixed Martial Arts club in Wellingborough and spent two months in the US as part of his build-up to the competition.
He now plans to run a free course for people in Corby who may be interested in taking up the martial art.
Mr Henderson told the newspaper that his life "revolves around the sport".
"To win at the world championships is pretty much the most I could have hoped to achieve in the sport," he added.
"I'm hoping to open my own club eventually and that's how I would like to earn an income."
World champion kickboxer Sevda Arif recently announced plans to launch her own training academy in South Woodford, the Wanstead & Woodford Guardian reported.
