ImageMartial arts have been demonstrated as part of an exhibition which aims to tackle obesity in East Anglia.

The sport of kickboxing is one of several identified by fitness fanatic Michelle Plowman to be used in her Physical Freedom initiative, which she hopes can help improve the lives of young people across the area.

She told the East Anglia Daily Times that a serious car accident she was involved in "completely changed" her outlook on life and gave her a new determination to help improve people's health and fitness.

"People lead very busy lives these days and a lot of people neglect themselves and their families," said Ms Plowman.

"The event demonstrates ways of improving how you live in areas such as healthy eating and fitness activities for the whole family."

Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jnr recently revealed that kung fu helped him to deal with drink and drug addictions.
