A martial arts instructor has been invited to the Scottish Parliament due to his work as an anti-knife campaigner.
Mark Davies from the BlackBelt academy in Arbroath has been running an education programme called Cutting Edge for the last two years.
The martial arts expert has been visiting schools across Scotland to inform youngsters of the consequences of carry knives, reports the Press and Journal.
He has been invited by Tory MSP Alex Johnstone, himself a long-time supporter of the scheme, after appearing on a number of TV programmes to discuss Cutting Edge.
Mr Davies told the newspaper that he is concerned that "the UK is losing the battle against knife-crime culture".
"Many people don't realise that by carrying a knife, they are statistically more likely to get into a confrontation that often escalates into violence," he added.
Lucci Del-Gaudio, a martial arts instructor, told the Hucknall Dispatch last month that he is planning to hold a number of anti-knife seminars across Nottingham.
