Martial arts develop character and confidence according to the founders of a new club in East Grinstead. Fortitude Academy has just moved into the premises of the Literary and Social building, the East Grinstead Courier and Observer reports. The martial arts training club specifies in taekwondo and was founded by David and Simone Hodson in 1997 with just one school. Now, the successful husband and wife enterprise has 12 bases in Surrey, Sussex and Kent, with around 700 students. Mr Hodson told the newspaper that the new location of the club is "superb" being right in the town centre. He went on to say: "Our facilities are also fantastic with a fully matted training area and the whole area has been fully painted and decorated." "Martial arts is all based on character development, confidence and belief which are all benefits of taking part," he added. Martial arts are popular around the country and feature a range of fighting styles from kick boxing to tae kwon do. Next month, the successful Kenshinkan Karate Academy will open another one of its clubs in Darley , Yorkshire, reports the Harrogate Advertiser.
