ImageA six-year-old martial arts enthusiast from the north-east of England is set to win his black belt.

Logan Garry, who trains at the Solo Martial Arts club in Gosforth, is preparing to face his grading examination before Christmas, according to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle.

The youngster, who participates in kickboxing alongside both his parents, currently holds a brown belt and has made rapid progress since taking up the sport three years ago.

Paul Griffin, from the British National Martial Arts Association, told the newspaper Logan's progress has been a "great achievement".

"I would say there are between six and a dozen children in the country who have made it that far. The youngest black belt I ever gave out was for a lad of about 11," he added.

The Lynn News also reports of another young fighter, eight-year old Chloe Marks, who is set to compete in the UKTA Taekwondo Welsh National Championship this week.
