A former martial arts world champion has officially opened his first training centre dedicated to the ancient arts.
Russ Williams, who has previously held the world kickboxing championship and trained in martial arts for over 30 years, told the Daily Post he was "delighted" to open the X-cess club in Wrexham.
He added that he plans to teach kickboxing and Thai boxing to athletes from across Wales at the near-5,000 square foot martial arts centre.
Mr Williams told the newspaper he hoped that all the "vast knowledge" he had gained through competing can help new students develop their skills and join the world's elite.
Fellow martial arts instructor Jamie Tant, who coaches in Enfield, has released a self defence DVD aimed at women.
The Enfield Independent reports the DVD shows females basic moves to fight off attackers and ways to use items including hairclips and mobile phones as methods of self defence.
