ImageAn eight-year-old from Hertfordshire has won two medals at a regional judo competition.

Young enthusiast Archie Denton brought home a 42 kilo gold and a 50 kilo bronze medal, according to the Welwyn and Hatfield Times.

The competitor's father, Barry Denton, told the publication: "I am very proud of him to have achieved what he has in such a short space of time. It was a brilliant achievement and a superb day all round."

Archie is a student at Cheshunt's V and E Judo Club, which offers judo courses for combatants aged five and upwards, Hertfordshire Direct states.

He is also a keen participant in kickboxing and rugby, which will help him develop his fitness while having fun.

The club was formed by Alan Farrary in 1969 and practises at the V and E Youth Club every Tuesday and Thursday between 18:15 and 21:30 GMT.

Sessions cost £4 for visitors and beginners are always welcome to try their hand at the sport, according to Hertfordshire Direct.ADNFCR-1215-ID-19075159-ADNFCR
